The practice represents businesses, financial institutions, investment companies, commercial entities, construction companies, and other clients in complex disputes throughout state and federal court in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as in Florida, Georgia, and California. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a significant caseload while developing the skills necessary to handle increasingly complex litigation matters from inception through resolution.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse mix of matters, with a focus on high-volume commercial disputes and alternative finance litigation, as well as highly complex, high-stakes business litigation involving sophisticated contractual, financial, corporate, and commercial issues.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants substantial hands-on litigation experience, meaningful client contact, and the opportunity to work on both sophisticated business disputes and a broad range of commercial litigation matters in the area of alternative finance, construction, real estate, shareholder disputes, conventional financing, and bankruptcy/restructuring.
Please send your resume and statement of interest to jobinquiry@silvermanthompson.com.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a substantial caseload of business and commercial litigation matters under the supervision and guidance of senior attorneys.
- Assist senior attorneys on particularly complex or high-value litigation matters and assume increasing responsibility as experience develops.
- Work on disputes involving alternative finance transactions, including merchant cash advances, commercial finance agreements, receivables transactions, confessions of judgment, guaranties, security interests, and related contractual and enforcement issues.
- Assist with matters involving sophisticated commercial transactions and disputes concerning contract interpretation, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, business torts, corporate governance, and other business-related claims.
- Manage litigation matters from initial assessment through discovery, motion practice, settlement, trial, and arbitration, as appropriate.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, memoranda, correspondence, and settlement documents; conduct legal research and develop strategies involving complex commercial and financial issues.
- Conduct and defend depositions and hearings; manage written discovery, document review, privilege issues, ESI, and analysis of contracts, financial records, and corporate documents.
- Communicate directly with clients and collaborate with attorneys and paralegals to manage a high-volume practice, balancing competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
Qualifications
- Maryland Bar admission required.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Approximately 2–3 years of substantive litigation experience, preferably involving commercial or business disputes and courtroom advocacy.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Experience with discovery, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and client-service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as an effective part of a litigation team.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation (commensurate with experience).
- 100% paid health benefits with options for dental and vision supplements.
- 401(k) & profit sharing.
- Newly renovated Downtown Baltimore offices, including an in-house fitness center.
- Free parking at the Inner Harbor.
- Professional development opportunities.
- Monthly team-building activities, from Orioles games to waterfront happy hours and intramural sports.

Summer Clerkship Program
Each year, we hire up to six law students from across the country to join our firm for the summer to assist attorneys in various departments with substantive legal work. These law students partake in research, writing, and hands-on experience, gaining invaluable mentorship. Alongside an immersive experience at a top litigation firm, summer associates spend a day in court, have lunch with a local judge, and participate in a variety of firm-wide social and networking events.
Those interested in applying for our Summer Clerkship Program are encouraged to do so before November 20, 2026. Please reach out to Partner Andrew Slutkin for all inquiries and send a CV and transcript to jobinquiry@silvermanthompson.com before the above date.
Part-Time Clerkships for Law Students
We hire a handful of local law students, including past summer associates, to work as law clerks throughout the year to gain hands-on firm experience while completing their law degrees.
Typically, our law clerks perform legal research and analysis of complex issues; draft discovery requests and responses, motions, and legal memoranda; perform factual investigations and summaries; and help prepare materials for hearings or trials. In addition, law clerks are invited to observe and participate in client meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials. Silverman Thompson also provides networking opportunities and encourages attendance of social events within and outside the firm to foster professional development.
We accept applications on a rolling basis and typically start hiring by Thanksgiving for the following year. Please reach out to Partner Andrew Slutkin for all inquiries and send a CV and transcript to jobinquiry@silvermanthompson.com at your earliest convenience.
